All About 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Dog Treats Recipe:

Being a dog parent is not an easy task. You have to work hard and look for so many things to keep your furry baby happy, healthy, and satisfied.

Keeping this in mind, I usually experiment with things especially when it comes to feeding my doggo. I have a German Shephard and he loves treats.

Therefore, after days and nights of experimenting with different recipes; today, I will share my top-secret formula with you.

Before you get your hands dirty with the recipe or get flooded with hundreds of random questions such as how strong does it smell or is it safe for my doggo you need to read the following lines carefully.

📝 Note:
Being an extremely careful dog owner, I haven't added any flavoring that smells strong.
Apart from that, I am also not a fan of using peanut butter-like Salt Bae using salt on his gold-flavored stakes that are worth $2k.
And yes, it's been 6 months since I am giving him these cookies as a treat which means this recipe is 100% safe for dogs.

Moreover, when I first fed my prepared recipe to my dog, he loved it so much that I fell in love with his response.

Key Ingredients Used to Make Pumpkin Dog Treats:

As I told you earlier, my recipes are always easy to make (yes, I admit that I am a bit lazy lol) therefore, this recipe is based on only three main ingredients which are as follows:

  • Freshly cooked pumpkin – 1 Cup
  • Whole wheat flour – 2 cups
  • Egg – 1

Note: The unsweetened canned pumpkins work too!

How to Make these 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Dog Treats?

Here is a complete step-by-step method for preparing and cooking the pumpkin dog treat:

Ingredients and Cooking method for 3 ingredients pumpkin dog treats
The complete ingredients list and procedure for cooking. Yes, you can share with your loved ones.
  1. The first thing you need to do is to preheat your oven to around 250 degrees F. While it is heating, you should start preparing other ingredients to make the treats.
  2. Next, you need to add 1 cup of cooked and pure pumpkins. But make sure to measure them while adding them to the mixing bowl.
  3. After that, you should crack the egg open, add it to the mixing bowl and start beating it with the added pumpkin which is already waiting in the bowl.
  4. Keep beating until the egg is fully mixed with the pumpkin.
  5. After that add some flour and keep stirring.
  6. Once everything is perfectly mixed, you should shift the mixture to a smooth and non-stick pan or something and start kneading.
  7. Keep kneading them until it becomes uniform and then make them about half an inch thick. You can use a rolling pin to make your job easy.
  8. Now during this stage, the mixture might stick to your rolling pen. I like to add a little bit of flour on the surface before using my rolling pin. This allows me to easily use my rolling pin for the process without the dough sticking to it.
  9. After preparing the dough your next and last task is to put the dough on a cutting board and start cutting it into small cookie-size pieces
  10. Cutting it is so easy and you can use a pizza cutter to do it without any issue.
  11. Once everything is done, you need to put the cut pieces of the treats in the oven that you have already preheated. Bake the treats for about 30 minutes or wait until they turn golden brown
📝 Note:
Although they might be harder for you to chew yourself but trust me your doggo will have no issue biting them at all.

How Do I Store My Pumpkin Dog Treats?

Once you have prepared treats for your dog the next thing that you would want to know is how to save them for later use.

In short, you might be looking for ways to preserve them for a longer duration so that you can easily stock them for your dog. Well, the best thing is that you don’t have to worry at all!

Where do you mostly store your cookies? In a jar right? Yes, that is true,

To save your dog treat pumpkin cookies, you should store them in an air-tight jar where they can last for about 1 week.

You don’t need to add any preservatives to prolong the life span of these treat cookies. What’s even more? You can place the jar full of cookies in a freezer. The lower temperature will help prolong the life of your cookies as it prevents mold growth.

Moreover, if you don’t like storing them in a jar, you can also use air-tight zip-lock bags. They are also quite good at storing things for a longer duration.

📝 Note:
This method allows you to store your homemade dog treats for about 6 months straight in a row.
However, you need to keep in mind that these cookies will require proper defrosting before giving them to your dog.
